A U.S. Border Patrol agent has resigned after being arrested in Tucson on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of child pornography and lewd acts with a minor.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say Alejandro Covarrubia Dominguez was taken into custody Monday and charged with seven felony counts.

The agency says its internal affairs office and the Border Patrol's Tucson sector are cooperating with California's Riverside County Sheriff's Department following the arrest of Dominguez.

The Riverside sheriff's department didn't immediately have information Tuesday on the circumstances of Dominguez's arrest.
