A Fort Bliss soldier has been charged with capital murder after an off-duty constable working security at a Halloween haunted house died following a fight.

El Paso County jail records show 19-year-old Devon Huerta-Person was being held Monday on $5 million bond.

Online jail records don't listed an attorney for Huerta-Person, who was charged in the death of El Paso County Constable Robert White.

White on Friday night was working security in Canutillo at a site decorated as a Halloween haunted house. An arrest affidavit says White early Saturday was punched in the face, fell, was bleeding and became unresponsive. The 45-year-old constable died at a hospital.

Huerta-Person fled on foot but was later arrested.

A message left with Fort Bliss wasn't immediately returned Monday.
