A Louisiana 11-month-old who authorities say may have been trapped underneath her father’s dead body for up to three days was released Monday from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Betty Jean Kelly, the toddler, was discovered suffering from dehydration, blisters on her skin and a dark indent on her face from being pressed on the floor, The Shreveport Times reported. Her father, Jason Fields, who had suffered from health issues, is believed to have fallen from his bed and onto his daughter.

A coroner said based on the body's decomposition, it appears that Fields had been dead for up to three days.

"It's one of those unsuspecting things," Kristy Fields, the girl's aunt, told the paper.

There was no air conditioning in the home and temperatures inside the house were between 90 and 100 degrees, KSLA reported.

Neighbors were alerted by Fields' 3-year-old son that something was wrong and he thought his dad was dead.

Betty Jean, who has been recovering at the University Health in Shreveport, will live with her aunt, the report said.
