Southern California pediatric nurse charged with molesting his 2-month-old foster baby

SAN DIEGO – A pediatric nurse in Southern California has been charged with molesting his 2-month-old foster baby.

An FBI statement says Michael William Lutts was arrested Tuesday at his San Diego home. He's charged with sexually exploiting a child.

The 50-year-old appeared in federal court Wednesday but didn't enter a plea. He remains in custody.

Authorities say Lutts is a pediatric nurse in San Diego County and he was given custody of a 2-month-old, prematurely born foster baby on Aug. 4.

Prosecutors allege that he began molesting the child the same day. KNSD-TV (http://bit.ly/1wEO89j ) reports images and video of the acts were found on a cellphone seized by the FBI.

Authorities haven't said exactly where Lutts worked.

No information was available about whether he has a lawyer who could be reached for comment.
