Girl, 3, dies in 6-story fall from grandmother's Rhode Island home

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A 3-year-old girl has died in a fall from a sixth-story window at her grandmother's apartment complex in Rhode Island.

A police report obtained by WLNE-TV says the girl's mother saw her near the window of the Providence apartment building on Friday night and told her to move away. Police say the mother turned around for a moment, and when she looked back at her daughter, she saw the girl fall through the screened-in window.

The girl was pronounced dead at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

The fall at the Hillcrest Village Apartments is under investigation, but police say there's no sign of foul play.
