New Jersey's transit agency has disciplined a bus driver who was caught reading while he drove in stop-and-go traffic on a highway this week.

New Jersey Transit declined to provide specific details of the punishment it issued Wednesday afternoon. Agency officials also declined further comment on the matter, saying it was a "personnel matter."

The driver's name also was not released.

A passenger had photographed the driver Tuesday while the bus was on Interstate 80 in Wayne.

The commuter told WCBS-TV (http://cbsloc.al/1jppfZI ) that the driver first read a pamphlet, then put a book on the steering wheel. The woman said the bus was moving slowly and once traffic cleared and he accelerated, he put the book down.
