ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The lead attendance officer for the Atlantic City school district has quit after a TV news crew documented him doing anything but his job.
WPVI-TV in Philadelphia showed Nicholas Russo getting massages, manicures and car washes when he was supposed to be working.
The report also found Russo called in sick but filled out his time cards to show he was working and spent time at a liquor store he owns instead of looking for truants.
When confronted by a reporter, Russo initially said he was using his lunch hour to take care of personal business. But he had no comment after he was shown the video.
School officials said Wednesday Russo had resigned days after being suspended from his $72,000 job that he had held for 20 years.
