The attorney for the wife of the dead Boston Marathon bombing suspect says a federal grand jury asked her for items that belonged to one of the victims in a triple slaying in a Boston suburb nearly three years ago.

Federal prosecutors in Boston revealed in court documents that a friend of bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev (tsahr-NEYE'-ehv) told authorities he and Tsarnaev participated in the killings in the city of Waltham (WAHL'-tham).

Tsarnaev was killed in a shootout with police after the bombing.

The attorney for Tsarnaev's widow, Katherine Russell, says a grand jury asked her for items that belonged to Brendan Mess, one of the three people killed in the Waltham triple slaying and a friend of Tsarnaev's. Attorney Amato DeLuca says Russell doesn't have anything that belongs to Mess.
