Police in Alabama say an elderly woman who suffers from Alzheimer's disease lived with her husband's body for a month after he died not realizing what happened.

Neighbors of Doris Kirby of Decatur and her husband called police to check on the elderly couple, saying they hadn't been seen in months.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1lo7ruo ) officers found Kirby at her house Friday in poor health and had her taken to a hospital. The body of her husband, 75-year-old Jessie Claude Kirby, was found in his bed.

Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn ruled out foul play. Police say Kirby's husband had multiple health problems and died from natural causes.

Police say two dogs that appeared to have starved to death were also found inside the home.
