PHOENIX – A California man accused of grabbing the steering wheel of a Greyhound bus as it traveled down an Arizona highway, causing injury to 24 passengers, faces more than two dozen charges.
Twenty-five-year-old Maquel Morris, of Los Angeles, has been charged with 25 counts of endangerment, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated assault involving temporary disfigurement, and one count of criminal damage.
He was ordered released on bond Friday at the Phoenix hospital where he's still being treated.
Authorities say Morris attacked the driver and caused the bus to swerve and go off Interstate 10 early Thursday as it headed from Los Angeles to Dallas.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says several of the 41 passengers aboard helped subdue Morris.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 30.
