SPANISH FORK, Utah – Family and friends say they are stunned a Utah police officer shot and killed his wife, mother-in-law and two young children before turning the gun on himself.
At a vigil Saturday night in Spanish Fork, they said they were aware Joshua and Kelly Boren had been having marital problems but never thought he was capable of such a violent act.
Authorities say 34-year-old Lindon Officer Joshua Boren shot his 32-year-old wife; his 55-year-old mother-in-law, Marie King; and his two children, 7-year-old Joshua "Jaden" and 5-year-old Haley before killing himself.
They were found dead in their home late Thursday.
