Maryland State Police say they've arrested a Baltimore man wanted in the theft of eight Hermes handbags from a Texas home that were worth $200,000.

Police announced Thursday that 40-year-old Edward Bryant is being held on a fugitive warrant. Police say Bryant is charged with burglary and theft over $100,000. Texas authorities have begun extradition proceedings against him.

Police in West University Place, Texas, say the purses were stolen Dec. 7 and that Bryant and another person were identified as suspects. They contacted Maryland authorities this week and he was arrested Tuesday at his home.

Police say four of the bags, ranging in value from $15,000 to $38,000 each, were recovered at another location and a search for the second suspect continues.
