Columbia police say no charges will be filed after a man was shot and killed during a home invasion.
Police say a man broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment shortly before midnight Sunday and was shot by the woman's new boyfriend.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said 26-year-old Roderick Eugene Harris Jr. died at a Columbia hospital after being shot in the chest.
Police said the woman told them she had ended a relationship with Harris and he had threatened her and her new boyfriend.
The woman told police Harris broke into her apartment and began arguing with her ex-boyfriend and charged at him. The man then pulled a gun and shot Harris.
Police said the man is cooperating in the investigation.
Police and prosecutors say no charges will be filed.
