A man is standing trial in northeastern Ohio for a triple slaying that happened nearly 40 years ago.

The (Youngstown) Vindicator reports that jury selection is beginning Monday for the trial of 64-year-old James Ferrara.

He's accused of killing 33-year-old Benjamin Marsh, Marsh's 32-year-old wife Marilyn, and their 4-year-old daughter Heather on Dec. 14, 1974.

Ferrara -- who is serving a prison term for a double slaying in 1983 -- was indicted in June.

Mahoning County officials said the charges came after evidence from the crime scene was submitted to the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation database, and they got a match to Ferrara on three different fingerprints.

Officials say Ferrara fatally shot the adults and killed the child by striking her. Prosecutors haven't publicly discussed a possible motive.
