Authorities said a Florida man was found dead early Friday after drinking a milkshake allegedly spiked with prescription drugs by his roommate.

Police responded to the Vero Beach residence early Friday morning to check on the welfare of 51-year-old Michael Gray, after his wife, who was out of town, contacted them to say she had not heard from him in several days, Fox 29 reported.

Upon arriving at the home, deputies encountered the roommate, identified as 41-year-old Timothy E. Gochenour, who initially told them Gray was at a local bar.

After searching the home, authorities found Gray's body in a bed, covered with blankets, according to the station.

Investigators claim Gochenour told them he had been arguing with Gray for several days over rent and privacy issues. Gochenour said he put a large quantity of prescription medications in a milkshake Thursday night and gave it to Gray with the intention of killing him, according to police.
