The search for a missing autistic boy is continuing but the New York City police department says it's not hopeful he'll be found alive.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly is asking anyone with any information about Avonte Oquendo to contact the police TIPS hot line. But, WABC-TV reports, Kelly said Thursday that while the search is continuing "we are not hopeful that we're going to find this young man alive."

The 14-year-old has been missing since Oct. 4 when he walked out of his Queens school.

The boy's father, Daniel Oquendo Sr., pleaded with the public Thursday night to continue to keep their eyes open for his son.

The reward for Avonte's safe return is up to nearly $90,000.
