An Indiana grandfather charged in an Illinois baby's death more than four decades ago is expected in court.

An extradition hearing is expected Monday in Porter County, Ind., where Gary Warwick was arrested last Thursday.

Prosecutors in southwestern Illinois' St. Clair County last week charged 62-year-old Warwick in the 1972 death of 1-year-old Joseph Henry Abernathy III.

Authorities allege Warwick was dating the child's mother but was not the father of the child.

Warwick in 1973 was charged in the baby's death, but the case was dismissed the next year without explanation. Investigators haven't revealed what led to the new charges.

It's unclear if Warwick has an attorney.

He's jailed in Illinois on $5 million bond.
