Police say an eight-year-old boy stabbed his sister in the neck with a knife after the girl found him stabbing her doll in their Charleston home.

Charleston Police Lt. Mark Abbott says the four-year-old girl's wound from the Sunday afternoon incident is not life threatening.

Police are waiting for prosecutors to gather more evidence in the case. But Abbott told The Charleston Gazette that 8-years old is "a little too young to just make an arrest."

He says the boy may be required to receive counseling or his parents could face legal issues depending on the outcome of a juvenile court hearing.
