A Texas couple says a baby video monitor they used to watch their 2-year-old daughter was hacked by a stranger who manipulated the device to spy on their child.

Marc Gilbert told KTRK-TV that he and his wife recently heard a voice making sexual remarks over the Internet-based monitor installed their daughter's room.

"It felt like somebody broke into our house," Gilbert told the station.

The Houston resident said the wireless hacker could see his daughter's name spelled out on the bedroom wall and tried to taunt her with vulgar remarks.

"He said, 'Wake up Allyson, you little (expletive),'" Gilbert said.

Gilbert told the station he believes someone hacked his router and the camera to see into the room and shout profanities. The couple has since pulled the plug on the monitor.

Because Allyson was born deaf and her cochlear implants were turned off at the time, she did not hear the hacker's taunts, Gilbert said.
