HARTFORD, Conn. – Officials in the Connecticut town where a woman and her two daughters were killed in a home invasion refuse to answer questions about the emergency response six years after the murders, and there apparently has been no formal review of police actions.
Two men broke into the Cheshire home in 2007 and murdered Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two daughters, ages 11 and 17. Her husband, Dr. William Petit, was beaten but survived.
Questions about the police response resurfaced this week after HBO aired a documentary and The Hartford Courant reported about newly obtained audio recordings of police dispatch and phone calls.
Hawke-Petit's family says police haven't responded to their questions. The family says Hawke-Petit and her daughters were alive when police arrived at the home.
The two killers are now on death row.
