Authorities in Marion County want to know who attacked a Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports Lisa Hensley found the injured horse at her mini-farm when she returned home from a weekend camping trip.

Marion County Sheriff's officials say the horse named Sassy was burned on the left hind leg and on its side. Hensley told deputies the horse was hiding in a dark corner of the barn and could hardly stand or walk.

Sassy's owner, Dr. Todd Overcash, says she's in a great deal of pain. He says she has bruising on the underside of her belly, as if someone repeatedly kicked her.

The horse is receiving twice-a-day treatment and is expected to recover.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
