A July 11 preliminary hearing has been set for a 20-year-old man accused of shooting a stolen gun at a Las Vegas house party more than a year ago, killing a teenage girl and wounding a woman with random gunfire.

Demetrius Black remained jailed Wednesday on more than $1 million bail following his court appearance Tuesday in North Las Vegas Justice Court.

Police say 17-year-old partygoer Betty Jean Pinkney died and 32-year-old tenant Karen Sinatra was wounded by stray bullets that came through bedroom walls in the Jan. 15, 2012, gunfire in northeast Las Vegas.

Black faces charges including murder, attempted murder and 12 counts of shooting at an occupied building.

Police say the 9mm handgun was reported stolen in November 2011 by a marshal in the Clark County courts.
