Police in New York say they arrested a fugitive accused of the 2011 killings of an ex-British police officer and the officer's girlfriend in the Philippines.

State Police Capt. Timothy Munro said Friday that troopers worked with the FBI and Interpol to track down 35-year-old Timothy Noah Kaufman in Clifton Park, just north of Albany. They arrested him Wednesday without incident.

The National Bureau of Investigation in the Philippines says Kaufman and two other men shot to death 54-year-old David Balmer and his 26-year-old girlfriend, Elma de Guia, as they slept in the home of Balmer's business partner in Angeles City in September 2011.

The NBI says the two were shot multiple times.

Kaufman was turned over to U.S. Marshals and faces an extradition hearing on May 9.
