SALT LAKE CITY – A Salt Lake City pediatrician has been arrested in his ex-wife's killing more than 18 months after her body was found in an overflowing bathtub with a knife stuck in her.
The county district attorney's office says 49-year-old John Brickman Wall is charged with murder and aggravated burglary.
He's accused of the September 2011 killing of 49-year-old Uta Von Schwedler, a biologist at the University of Utah. Police called the death suspicious at the time but hadn't filed any charges until now.
The couple was involved in a bitter custody battle after divorcing in 2006. An 18-year-old son testified he was afraid of his father.
Wall's attorney says his client maintains his innocence. Bail has been set at $1.5 million.
