Officials say a contractor at Los Angeles International Airport accidentally made flight-status signs read "Emergency Leave the Terminal."
Airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles said in a statement that shortly before 10 p.m. Monday airline workers at the Tom Bradley International Terminal reported that signs were displaying the pre-programmed emergency message.
The message was stopped after about eight minutes.
Castles says no alarms went off and there were no reports of anyone evacuating.
An investigation revealed that an airline contract employee authorized to access the system accidentally activated the message.
Castles said the airport look for ways to ensure similar accidents don't happen again.
The message came amid long flight delays because of federal budget cuts and a rash of false bomb scares that have led to evacuations of stores and schools.
