An Oklahoma business owner told police he shot a man suspected of breaking into his business early Thursday.

Fox23.com reports that auto repair shop owner Dale Ford fired multiple shots at the suspected burglar after he kicked in the door of his Muskogee business.

Ford told police he has been sleeping at shop ever since someone broke into his shop and made away with auto parts, according to a recording of the 911 call obtained by the station.

He said he hit the suspected burglar in the arm, the report states.

The suspect, who was not identified, was recovering from injuries sustained during the attempted burglary late Thursday, according to the report.

Muskogee Police Lt. Bobby Lee told Fox23.com that thieves should watch out for armed business owners and homeowners.

"People are tired of getting their stuff stolen and they work hard,” Lee said. "These suspects put themselves in this situation when they break into a house, business or car."
