SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A New York man charged with killing a woman and raping her 10-year-old daughter during a carjacking last month is scheduled to stand trial in June on child pornography charges.
Syracuse media outlets report that a federal court judge has set a June 3 start for the trial of 29-year-old David Renz of Cicero.
Police say he killed a woman and raped her daughter March 14 at a mall outside Syracuse after disabling an electronic monitoring device he was required to wear after his arrest on child porn charges earlier this year.
Authorities say he was awaiting trial on the pornography charges when he attacked the woman and girl in the parking lot of the Great Northern Mall in the town of Clay.
