PHOENIX – Some Arizona leaders say gun ownership contributes to domestic violence.
State Sens. Katie Hobbs and Olivia Cajero Bedford are leading a campaign in Arizona to connect weak gun laws and domestic abuse.
Both are scheduled to give anti-gun speeches Wednesday. Hobbs is expected to speak in Phoenix, while Cajero Bedford will slam gun ownership in Tucson.
Hobbs and Cajero Bedford are highlighting domestic violence with help from the Arizona Coalition Against Domestic Violence and domestic abuse survivors.
Meanwhile, the national group Mayors Against Illegal Guns plans to release a new TV spot this week focusing on domestic abuse and gun laws.
The group says women in the United States are 11 times more likely to be murdered with guns than they are in any other developed nation.
