AKRON, Ohio – Jurors have heard testimony from three men who say they discussed an online job posting in person with a man now suspected of killing three other men lured by a phony Ohio job listing.
The testimony Wednesday at the Akron trial of 53-year-old alleged triggerman Richard Beasley came as prosecutors try to show robbery and identity theft were motives for the attacks. The jury also heard about statements written by the slain men in response to a job posting for a farm caretaker in southeast Ohio.
Beasley has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and kidnapping charges.
His teenage co-defendant was tried separately, convicted and sentenced to life in prison. He has agreed to testify against Beasley.
The defense says there isn't enough evidence to prove Beasley committed the crimes.
