Police say an intoxicated California man was charged New Year’s Day after he stole a golf cart packed with champagne and tried to drive 74 miles to his house, Fox40.com reported.

John Vishion, 46,  attempted to drive from Angels Camp to Citrus Heights, which is in the Sacramento area, the report said. He reportedly drove 13 miles before he was stopped.

Vishon left the Trendwest Wyndham Resort in Angels Camp after an argument, the report said. Twenty minutes before midnight, Vishon allegedly spotted the golf cart in a garage, unplugged it, swiped five bottles of champagne and drove off, the report said.

He was arrested after reportedly getting lost during the drive.

Vishon was charged with burglary, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, grand theft and driving under the influence, the report said. He reportedly admitted to police that he took the cart.

The owner will get back the golf cart and bottles of champagne, police say.
