The former principal of Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 20 children and six adults were killed last week, will return to her old post when the school reopens, CTNow.com reported after speaking with her husband.

Donna Page, the retired principal, will reportedly take on the role of interim principal when students begin classes after Christmas break at the nearby Chalk Hill School.

The report of her return comes on the same day President Obama asked for a team led by Vice President Biden to offer "concrete proposals" to curb gun violence no later than January, in the aftermath of the horrific massacre at a Connecticut elementary school.

Obama says after he receives recommendations from Biden's group, he will push legislation "without delay." The president is urging Congress to hold votes on the bill.

Obama says the issue is complex but quote, "we have a deep obligation -- all of us -- to try."
