For sixth day, Colorado town searches for teen 'who wouldn't have left willingly'

"Dylan wouldn't have left willingly," the boy's mom said Friday during an interview at the home of a friend.

IGNACIO, Colo. – The search for a missing 13-year-old boy is entering its sixth day in southwest Colorado, where Dylan Redwine was last seen Monday.

The boy lives in Colorado Springs but was visiting his father in Vallecito on Thanksgiving break, The Durango Herald reported.

La Plata County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Bender says Mark Redwine told investigators that he saw his son Monday about 7:30 a.m. The boy was gone when Redwine returned after running errands.

The missing boy is 5 feet tall, 105 pounds, with blond hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue-and-white Duke Blue Devils baseball cap, black Nike T-shirt and black Jordan tennis shoes.

"Dylan wouldn't have left willingly," Elaine Redwine said Friday during an interview at the home of a friend. "If there was any way to communicate he would have called."

Dylan was picked up Sunday by his father at Durango-La Plata County Airport, his mother said Friday. Dylan announced his arrival in a text message and ended it with the emoticon that is interpreted as a scowl, she said.

She declined to talk about her former spouse except to say he rarely exercised his visitation rights. The Durango Herald has been unable to reach him.

Bender said that the search Saturday morning would expand to Bayfield, a town south of Vallecito. Other searchers would work near Vallecito Reservoir and on Forest Service roads in the area, he said.

Dozens of area volunteers have helped canvass the county looking for the teen, Bender said.

Elaine Redwine told the newspaper that she doubts her son would have gone into the woods.

"Dylan is a generational kid and tech savvy," Redwine said. "He wouldn't have gone to the mountains to pitch a tent or build a fire."
