SLIDELL, La. – St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies are searching for a 51-year-old Slidell woman after her husband reported he was unable to find her during a kayaking trip on the Pearl River.
Deputies say Sandra Pierce has been missed since Thursday.
Pierce's husband called 911 at approximately 4:30 p.m. and reported that he, his wife, and another man launched from Crawford's landing at 10:30 a.m. in two separate boats. Deputies say Pierce failed to show-up at a predetermined location.
Sheriff's office personnel from the marine division, along with the sheriff's infrared radar equipped helicopter, searched the area until midnight. The search resumed Friday.
Deputies are joined in the search by members of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Coast Guard.
