An eastern Pennsylvania man convicted in a shooting death at an Allentown bar 2 1/2 years ago has been sentenced to the maximum 20 to 40 years in prison.

Twenty-one-year-old Marc Arnold of Allentown pleaded guilty to an open count of homicide in September and was convicted of third-degree murder in the April 2010 slaying of 25-year-old Kevin Cobbs Jr. of Bethlehem.

Arnold apologized in court Friday for the shooting, which prosecutors said followed an argument that erupted after Arnold said he wanted to leave a gang.

Cobbs' grandmother, 69-year-old Ruby Peoples, who had raised the victim since he was an infant, broke down in tears and then fainted as she spoke to the defendant. She said "You could have done things differently ... you could have run the other way."
