Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old Denver woman whose body was found slumped in a couch in an apartment with her still living husband and dog nearby.

KMGH-TV reports Monday that officers responded to the apartment on a report of a foul smell on Oct. 1.

Police found Steven Ford and a Great Dane named Lola in the same room with the decomposing body of Michaela Beth Ford. An affidavit obtained by the station quotes Steven Ford as telling officers, "She's not dead. She's fine."

The apartment manager told officers he had last seen Michaela Ford alive about two weeks earlier.

No charges have been filed. The death remains under investigation.

A cause and manner of death have not been determined by the medical examiner.
