A New York woman reportedly bit a police officer’s face after she was pulled over on Staten Island, authorities claim.

The Staten Island Advance reports that Amanda Diaz, 27, of Staten Island, was driving a 1998 Nissan Maxima on Oct. 4 when she was pulled over for swerving into opposing traffic.

Diaz reportedly swore at officers when asked for her license and struggled with them when she was placed under arrest. A female officer then tried to subdue her in the back seat of a patrol car when Diaz bit her face, "causing the skin to rip off, bleeding, substantial pain, annoyance and alarm," according to court papers.

The officer was treated at a local hospital and released, a law enforcement source told the newspaper.

Diaz was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, resisting arrest and reckless driving. She was later released on $5,000 bail.
