Detectives in Chicago are seeking the public’s help in locating a 12-year-old girl who has been missing since July.

Taylor Lockhart, also known as “Tay Tay,” was last seen leaving a home on the city's South Side, near Midway Airport, and last made contact with her family on July 31, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Lockhart may also have been spotted in several blocks south of where witnesses reported seeing her last police said. At the time, she was wearing a pink and yellow shirt, black yoga pants and white, purple and back Jordan gym shoes, police said. She also wore her hair in a ponytail.

Lockhart, who is described by police as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has a scar on top of her left foot.

Attempts to reach Lockhart's relatives on Wednesday were unsuccessful.

Andrew Holmes, a community activist who runs an organization called Community Against Violence, told FoxNews.com he’ll be leading a door-to-door search for information regarding Taylor Wednesday evening in the city’s West Englewood section.

Holmes said the girl’s relatives have been helpful regarding the search, but conceded that many questions remain.

“There’s no indication that she was out after hours, but it’s urgent that we make contact with Miss Lockhart,” Holmes told FoxNews.com. “Is there a boy involved in this?”

Anyone with information regarding Lockhart’s whereabouts should call police at (312) 747-8274.
