The father of a black girl whose Cincinnati landlord posted a poolside "White Only" sign says his family suffered emotionally and financially as a result.

Michael Gunn, who is white, testified before an Ohio Civil Rights Commission administrative judge Friday in Cincinnati that he was outraged and had to move to safeguard his daughter from emotional harm.

The judge is weighing penalties against the landlord that could include punitive and compensatory damages. The ruling is not expected for months.

Landlord Jamie Hein claimed hair products used by Gunn's daughter clouded the pool. The commission ruled earlier this year that Hein discriminated against the girl in posting the sign.

Hein did not attend Friday's hearing and a recording said her voicemail was full.
