Authorities have captured a New Jersey man who they say brutally beat his girlfriend's former boyfriend after she lured the victim to a schoolyard.

Bail was set at $100,000 for 20-year-old Daniel Chaupiz of Wyckoff, who was charged with aggravated assault and robbery.

He remained jailed Saturday along with his girlfriend, 19-year-old Wyckoff resident Margaux Tocci, who is charged with robbery and theft. Her bail was set at $50,000

Wyckoff police say Chaupiz and another man beat the victim with a baseball bat and pipe on Thursday night. They say Tocci witnessed the attack and then drove off with Chaupiz and the other assailant, after the men took the victim's cash and smashed his cellphone.

The victim was treated at a hospital for head injuries and later released.
