A St. Louis man has been charged after police say he shot at three boys who were setting off fireworks.

The boys were riding bikes and setting off fireworks in an ally when they allegedly had an encounter with 56-year-old William Prada about the fireworks, Fox2Now.com reports.

The boys then took off on their bikes and Prada opened fire, striking the 11-year-old near his hip. Police say the boy is in stable condition.

Prada faces three counts each of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Bond has been set at $75,000 cash only.

He reportedly confessed of the crime to police.

“I have been in this office for nine years and I have never seen a case like this,” Assistant Circuit Attorney Mary Pat Benninger told Fox2Now.com.

The other two boys, both aged 10, were unharmed.
