Middle school students from Brooklyn were thrown out of the 9/11 memorial after they were caught throwing garbage into the memorial's reflecting pools.

MyFoxNY reports students on a field trip from JHS 292 in East New York, Brooklyn were caught throwing everything from baseballs to plastic soda bottles into the fountains.

The station reports another student was caught trying to bring ammunition through a metal detector. Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott says he does not know why the student had bullets, but the NYPD is investigating.
