An attorney for the former neighborhood watch volunteer charged with killing Trayvon Martin is delaying his request for a new bond hearing.

George Zimmerman's attorney announced on his legal team's website Tuesday that he would put off filing a new bond motion. He offered no further explanation.

No one immediately returned a phone call to attorney Mark O'Mara's office.

O'Mara says a new bond hearing won't take place for several weeks — during which time Zimmerman will stay in jail.

Zimmerman returned to jail on Sunday, two days after his $150,000 bond was revoked. Prosecutors say Zimmerman and his wife misled a judge about how much money they had to put up for the bond.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder and has pleaded not guilty.
