MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y.- A Long Island student was suspended by school officials after making a fictional video about the impact of bullying for a class project.

Jessica Barba, who attends Longwood High School in Middle Island, created the video featuring a 12-year-old girl named Hailey who kills herself after being bullied on Facebook and at school, myFOXny.com reported.

She posted it on YouTube on May 15 and included captions stating it was a work of fiction.

But at least one parent complained to police and she was suspended two days later.

Supporters made T-shirts calling for her suspension to be lifted and claiming she was now being bullied by the school.

School officials declined to comment, saying on that the video created a "disruption."

Jessica's father Michael Barba said, "All I would expect out of this is an A and for her to go back to school and let's forget about this suspension."

Jessica added, "I did the right thing and i know that by making it I did cause what they all a disruption. But I did the right thing, I made sure that it was fake so I wouldn't change what I did."

A suspension hearing was held Wednesday and her parents were due to meet with school officials Thursday.
