Cedar Rapids police have arrested a man who they say tried to light his ex-girlfriend on fire Monday night.

Officers responded around 8:40 p.m. to a domestic disturbance. The victim told dispatchers a man had sprayed a flammable liquid on her and tried to light her on fire.

Sgt. Joe Clark says in a news release that the woman's coat caught fire, but she was able to remove it before suffering any serious injury. Details about her condition were not immediately released.

KCRG reports that the man, who had taken off running from the residence, has been caught and arrested. His name and charges were not immediately released.
