A group of good Samaritans is being credited for nabbing a suspected rapist who allegedly attacked a woman outside a popular Kansas nightclub.

Erick Wanjiku, 31, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman inside a car parked near the Saint's Pub and Patio in Lenexa on Feb. 17, Fox affiliate WDAF-TV reported.

Authorities say the quick thinking of a 22-year-old woman, who witnessed the incident, helped to capture Wanjiku, who remains in jail on rape and battery charges.

Aja Woods told the station that she was getting into her vehicle around 1 a.m. when she witnessed the alleged attack inside a car parked next to her. She said she saw the victim "take off running."

"I literally saw him pull his pants up, buckle it and pop out of the car," Woods said of the alleged assailant.

Woods got into her car and pulled up alongside the man, who she claims called out to her for help.

"He said 'I need help, I need help, I’m in trouble, I’m in trouble,'" Woods recalled.

She claims she pretended to offer the man help by ordering him to get into her car.

"When he got in the car, I turned around real fast and I drove up where the bouncers were at the stoplight and they came and my sister actually pulled him out of the car," she said. "He takes off running from the bouncers and they had to take off running after him for a minute. They got him. He actually tore a big chunk of skin out of somebody and they got him and that was the end of it."

Den Friesen of the Lenexa Police Department acknowledged the efforts by Woods and other bystanders, saying, "They understood that the lady was in trouble and it was a serious situation so they jumped in to help out to keep it from getting any worse."

The Saint's Pub and Patio could not be reached for comment when contacted Thursday by FoxNews.com.
