A man dressed as "Pirates of the Caribbean" character Jack Sparrow was pepper-sprayed Thursday night by a woman dressed as Catwoman after a brawl broke out between people dressed as movie characters on Los Angeles' Hollywood Boulevard.

The pirate made famous by Johnny Depp was attacked on the busy Hollywood tourist strip outside the Kodak Theatre, the Los Angeles Times reported. He was treated for minor injuries.

The woman dressed as Catwoman told NBC Los Angeles that she was being harassed by Jack Sparrow and a man dressed as an alien for most of the day. She also said the pair appeared to be drunk.

After being pushed and bumped while she was having her photo taken, Catwoman warned them she had Mace in her possession and would not hesitate to use it.

"He was antagonizing me to do so, so I did," she said of Jack Sparrow.

The television station also reported that a man dressed as Willy Wonka had corroborated Catwoman's story.

The characters are known for posing for pictures with tourists while dressed as celebrities or TV and film characters and then asking for money for the privilege.

"We're just trying to entertain the public, take pictures with the tourists, make them happy, you know," Catwoman said. "That's what we come out here for."

Police said the brawl was the latest run-in between the characters.

In the past, police have held meetings with the characters in an effort to maintain peace and even introduced a temporary ban on the practice for a period.

Tourists are allowed to tip characters, but the characters are prohibited from demanding payment for their services under Los Angeles city rules.

Thursday's brawl quickly attracted the attention of Twitter users, many of whom commented it was an "only in LA" story.

"Cat woman, a pirate, and an alien just got in a huge fight in hollywood in front of chinese theatre," one person tweeted. "Spiderman and batman just watched."

"Only on LA News.. 'LAPD respond to fight on Hollywood Blvd between Catwoman, a Pirate and an Alien,'" another posted.
