A school principal says the mother of two students who were injured with their father by a car bomb blast says all three are expected to fully recover from their injuries.

St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School Principal Michelle Sontag said in a letter posted Wednesday on the school website that she had spoken twice to Maureen Chappell since Chappell's sons and husband were hurt in Tuesday's blast in Monroe. She says Chappell told her that all three family members are "in good spirits" and expected to fully recover.

The three were listed in serious condition Wednesday at a Toledo, Ohio, hospital.

Investigators are trying to determine who planted the bomb and whether one of the victims was targeted.

Erik Chappell is a lawyer.
