Philadelphia – After a summer spent ransacking scores of suburban Philadelphia homes, a pair of 19-year-old lovers dubbed "Thelma and Louise" by cops have finally been nabbed, the Philadelphia Daily News reported Saturday.
Police say Britney Singleton and Harley Gifford burglarized more than two dozen homes over the past few months, stealing everything from flat-screen TVs to lubricated condoms.
"This was their shopping spree," Capt. George Rhoades of Upper Darby's police said. "They didn't buy lotion or nail polish, because they stole it. They took whatever they could get their hands on."
Other items the pair stole included video games, cameras, laptops, $22,000 cash, poker chips, toy ponies, toy cars, toilet paper, a .22-caliber revolver, knives, autographed baseballs, a Virgin Mary statue and baby lotion.
The pair told police the only house they failed to rob was a residence containing a lion.
"It's kinda funny. They said they shut the door and got out," police superintendent Michael Chitwood Sr. said. "We asked, 'Are you sure it wasn't a big dog?' And they said separately that it was a lion."
Each faces 25 counts of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and related offenses.
