Police in New York have arrested a mother for allegedly driving her 12-year-old daughter to a schoolyard brawl and then egging it on.

Detectives in Long Island said Daphe Melin, 32, then went berserk when one of the kids in the crowd begged her to break up the fight, MyFoxNY.com reports.

The fight, which was caught on video, happened outside the William Floyd Elementary School in Shirley, N.Y., according to the website.

Authorities said two 12-year-old girls had an ongoing dispute on Facebook -- a "personality conflict" -- and decided to duke it out at the school. When one of them didn't show up, a friend took her place and they went at it. Melin allegedly went after another girl who was just watching the action. Police said she spat on the girl, grabbed her, kneed her several times, and pulled her hair.

Melin, who remains free on bail, is now facing serious charges. She told reporters that her daughter was being bullied online and nobody would help her stop it.
