Four Utah Walmart employees were fired after they disarmed an alleged shoplifter who tried to pull a gun on them inside the store.
The employees said they noticed a man, identified as Trent Allen Longton, remove a netbook computer and conceal it in his shirt on Jan. 13, AOL News reports. They then escorted the man to an office inside the store, where Longton allegedly grabbed one of the employees and shoved a gun in his back.
Store management fired the employees for the violating the company’s “Investigation and Detention of Shoplifters Policy,” which states that employees should retreat if an individual reveals a weapon.
"I honestly felt worse than when I had the gun to my back," said Gabriel Stewart, a 12-year company employee who is now fired due to his involvement in the incident.
